DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Super Metroid (Metroid 3)

For those who have seen my Legend of Zelda HTML guide, you may have noticed the quantity (not necessarily quality) of hand-drawn artwork that I put into it. (When I say hand-drawn, I mean on the computer, using a simple paint program.) Things like making graphics for a game guide take entirely too much time for me, since I'm not exactly a whiz at computer graphics. So, for this Diddy's Kong Quest Guide, I decided to not even bother trying. (Besides, the graphics in the Donkey Kong Country games are too fancy to imitate.)

As with the LoZ guide, I'm starting this one off having used someone else's guide whilst learning the game. Even though I think Chris Stassen's guides for DKC and DKC2 are a bit vague in places, they're still good guides; I'm only here to improve on them a bit. I also bought the manual on eBay, in order to find the names of certain things (like the enemies, which otherwise I would have to write down during the end credits). There are some things I will not be including in this guide; the big one being cheat codes. (IMO, real gamers shouldn't need them.) Um. So, without further ado...

About the Guide

This guide is mostly HTML text, with a few hand-drawn graphics.  It is divided into ten sections:

I. Introduction What you're reading right now.
II. Basics Things like the main characters, Diddy and Dixie Kong, game controls and special moves are found here.
III. Gameplay Descriptions of the Kong family areas, bonus levels, and the completion total are in here.
IV. Items and Objects A brief description of the items in the game, the different types of Barrels, and
V. Friends and Enemies The Kongs' animal buddies are in here, as well as brief descriptions of every enemy in the game save the bosses.
VI. DK Coins and Kremkoins Probably the most important section of the guide; this contains the location of all 40 Video Game Hero (DK) Coins and all 75 Kremkoins, separated by zone.
VII. K-O-N-G Letters The location of each K-O-N-G Letter in every level of the game.
VIII. Secrets and Shortcuts Hidden barrels, items, and secret shortcuts are found here. No cheat codes, mind!
IX. Bosses How to beat each of the first 6 bosses, and an in-depth walkthrough for K. Rool in K. Rool Duel and Krocodile Kore.
X. Sources A bibliography, of sorts.

As this guide is a work in progress, some pages will undoubtedly be blank for a long time. You can check to see which pages are completed by looking for a certain colored star next to the link on the index page. If it's red, like this one , then the page is blank.  If it's yellow , then the page is partially completed. If the star is green , then the page is complete. (That's not to say that I won't be making any changes to the page after it's completed; a subsequent may indicate an update.)

Printing the Guide

You'll probably notice that some of the above sections (most notably the DK Coin/Kremkoin section) use a smaller font than the rest of the guide; this is merely to save paper for those of you who wish to print those pages out. Unlike the LoZ guide, the pages are all black-on-white, so printing shouldn't be a problem.
